Starting a blog? 7 Valuable Posts that Will Make Yours Better

When the idea of starting my own blog began the excitement I felt was inevitable and welcomed. This led to a massive amount of researching and planning (because I can't seem to do things any other way lol) and then it hit.

I mean I just googled the words 'blogging tips' and got 35 million hits! And don't even get me started started on Pinterest or YouTube. I don't know about you, but I'm the kind of person that when I decide to take on a project I get obsessive about it. I want to know every last detail and viewpoint on the subject. I research, observe and absorb any crumb of information that I can get my hands on. I like knowing all my options.

Now although this can be very beneficial in making informed choices, it can also quickly become overwhelming and time consuming as new posts are constantly popping up each day. There is a definitive information overload!

I wanted to  help those of you who are considering starting a blog by narrowing down that information overload. And since you'll be joining me on my blogging and business launch adventure, I've decided to share my research with you through a series that I'm calling it Blog Talk.

I'll be posting the key blog posts, videos, podcasts and other research that I genuinely found useful so that as I learn so do you. Time is our most valuable resource as we cannot regenerated it, and this series will save you time. I've also included some quick thoughts on why I found the post helpful so that you can quickly screen which articles apply to your needs.

If you've read my very first blog post, you know that my vision is to create a space where multi-passionate women, like myself, can find inspiration and support one-another. I'm a firm believer that a big part of encouragement requires practical advice or tips that can be easily implemented. That is what this series will be about. Let's get started!

 "Clarity comes from engagement, not thought." @MarieForleo

To start chasing your dreams and create the life you desire for yourself requires you to move past your comfort zone. And that my friend can be terrifying.

Why you may ask? Because it requires that you face your fears. Think about it. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, so why is it that women like Alex, Marie Alisha or Mariah were able to create lives for themselves that they love.

They differ in backgrounds, experience levels and all started at different places and ages. So what's the common denominator? Not only did they face their fears but moved past them! Before launching the blog I thought I had a pretty good grip on my intentions and where I wanted to take it. Yet, if you read my previous post, this was clearly not the reality. And not everyone struggles with this. Some people find it second nature to just write or to put themselves out there but that's not me, and that's okay. It allows me to help others like me :)

When you decide to go after your dreams and say yes to your passions, the first step is to recognize that, like me, you may not be aware that specific fears are holding you back. It's important to get your mindset in the right place. The blog posts below gave me a lot of clarity, and I think it's important to understand the investment needed.

What’s Stopping You?  {IDEALUST

Recently, I've been letting fear and uncertainty get in the way of me working on and launching a project that I'm super excited about for several months. Reading this post made me face it. It's important to acknowledge that when starting something new that the people in your life may not fully understand that it can be scary, and that to move forward requires strength and courage. Especially if your more of an introvert like me. This post helps you find that push to start moving forward.

10 Lessons Learned in My First 2 Months of Blogging  {The Katie Show Blog}

Katie's positive writing style and post about her experience as new blogger is encouraging and provides useful steps to take when getting started. I especially found lesson #4, #5 and #8 (my fav) resonated with me and are super helpful. This is the kind of post that you pin and refer back to on those days when you need some motivation, or as I like to call it, a swift kick in the butt lol.

It's Not Perfect. Launch Anyway.  {Danielle Zeigler}

I love reading Danielle's blog. She's real and doesn't hide the fact that she's human. If you're a perfectionist this post will definitely hit home. After reading it I had the BIGGEST "AHA-Moment".  I've struggled with posting regularly not because of a lack of ideas. Actually the opposite is true. I have a ton of them!

The problem comes from me wanting it to create earth-shattering content that is full of quality. The problem lies in that I'm confusing quality with perfection, and although they may seem linked they're not. It isn't realistic to aim for perfection considering that no two people have the same view of "perfect". Danielle's post helps in recognizing that and how to get past it.

17 Pieces of Advice for New Bloggers  {The Alisha Nicole}

I've been a loyal follower of Alisha's for some time now and would recommend her to any creative woman looking for help and support with starting a blog or launching a business. Her article gives the passionate woman looking to create a blog or business a guide as to where to start. Checkout advice #9, #10, #12. #15 and #17 - they're my favourite ones.

8 Things Nobody Told Me About Blogging  {Wonder Forest}

Dana's writing style makes me smile. She just writes and tells it like it is, and she knows her stuff. The points she brings out in her post are awesome and something to really consider before deciding to start blogging, especially the point she makes in#8. Don't get me wrong, despite feeling a little lost I'm loving this blogging adventure. It causes butterflies in my stomach (yes, cheesy I know, but true). But it also a LOT of hard work and you have to be willing to invest the time and energy, and Dana's article shows why.

Don't Wait for Perfection; Launch and Learn  {XO Sarah}

Need a pep-talk? Need that kick-in-the-butt to get started? Have you been considering starting a blog for months and still haven't taken action (guilty as charged)? Letting your perfectionist tendencies hold you back. This is for you. I love how Sarah is able motivate by comparing  launching a blog to Apple and Google product launches.
